Kurzes Profil

PD Dr. med. Claudio Pollo ist verantwortlich für die stereotaktische und funktionelle Neurochirurgie, für die Epilepsiechirurgie und das radiochirurgische Programm an der Universitätsklinik für Neurochirurgie. Während seiner Ausbildung konzentrierte er seine klinischen und wissenschaftlichen Interessen auf die funktionelle Neurochirurgie und Epilepsiechirurgie (Prof. Jean-Guy Villemure). Seine fachliche Weiterbildung und Spezialisierung in der funktionellen Neurochirurgie wurde durch den Aufenthalt als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Universitätsklinik Joseph Fourier, Grenoble (Prof. Alim-Louis Benabid) vertieft. Seine Doktorarbeit widmete er der tiefen Hirnstimulation im Subthalamus nucleus bei der Parkinsonkrankheit. Im Jahr 2004 erhielt er ein Postgraduierten-Diplom in Biomedizintechnik an der Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule (EPFL). Im Jahr 2006 erhielt er den akademischen Grad PD & MER von der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Lausanne (UNIL). Die Mehrzahl seiner Publikationen und Forschungsprojekte, unterstützt vom Schweizerischen Nationalfonds (SNF) oder der Kommission für Technologie und Innovation (KTI) des Bundes, beschäftigen sich mit der Epilepsiechirurgie, der tiefen Hirnstimulation für Bewegungsstörungen und Epilepsie, mit Funktionsweisen und technologischen Aspekten der elektrischen Stimulation sowie mit Bildverarbeitungsprozessen.
