Prof. Dr. Z’Graggen ist Mitglied von 6 nationalen und internationalen Fachgesellschaften und Schweizer Repräsentant im wissenschaftlichen Beirat für Intensivmedizin der European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS). Als Reviewer ist er für mehrere renommierte internationale Fachzeitschriften auf dem Gebiet der Neurologie, Neurophysiologie und Neurointensivmedizin tätig.
Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Neurointensivmedizin, Nerven- und Muskelmembranveränderungen bei Erkrankungen des peripheren Nervensystems und des Muskels sowie die Neurophysiologie der zentralen Motorik. Die Forschungsunterstützung beinhaltet mehrere peer-reviewed Projekte zum Beispiel vom Schweizerischen Nationalfonds.
