Dr. Marc Gallay, MD, is a neurosurgery specialist and has been working as a consultant at the Department of Neurosurgery and the Department of Neurology at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, since 2025.
After studying medicine at the University of Zurich and completing his specialist training in neurosurgery in St. Gallen (Prof. G. Hildebrandt) and Geneva (Prof. K. Schaller), he went on to specialize in spinal surgery in Nottwil (Dr. Moulin, Dr. Bauer). He then returned to his original area of interest, functional neurosurgery – a field that had already occupied him intensively during his doctoral thesis in Zurich. Since 2015, Marc Gallay has devoted himself entirely to this specialty and has been instrumental in the further development of the incisionless, MR-guided focused ultrasound technique (MRgFUS) alongside Prof. Jeanmonod.
In addition to his clinical work with focused ultrasound, Marc Gallay is involved in teaching anatomy, physiology and pathology of the nervous system.
