Neurosurgical ward
The neurosurgical ward is located in the new Anna-Seiler-Haus – one of the most modern and attractive hospital buildings in Switzerland. Our inpatients can expect modern and tasteful single and double rooms that offer maximum comfort and privacy. Large windows let in plenty of daylight. Neuro-monitoring ward IMC
Our specialist neuro-monitoring ward (intermediate care unit or IMC) has a capacity of 9 beds. It provides optimal care for patients in need of monitoring and is the link between general ward and intensive care unit. Under the direction of the neuro-intensive care physician Prof. Dr. Werner Z'Graggen and the head physician Prof. Dr. Joerg C. Schefold of the Department of Intensive Care Medicine, a highly qualified team of nursing staff takes care of the well-being of our patients.

Intensive care unit
The intensive care unit provides special treatment for seriously ill patients. It is managed by the Department of Intensive Care Medicine and is run in cooperation with the Department of Neurosurgery.
Surgical facilities
The operating area with 4 operating rooms is the heart of our clinic. It has state-of-the-art equipment and enables us to further develop and perfect surgical techniques while ensuring the greatest possible safety for our patients.
Who works for us?
Physicians
More than 30 neurosurgeons are responsible for optimal and comprehensive medical treatment. They determine the therapy plan individually and together with the patient and exchange information with experts from other disciplines at interdisciplinary tumor boards.
Nursing staff
The nursing team looks after patients who are inpatients in the neurosurgical ward. They work in close cooperation with the physicians.
Administration staff
This includes the clinic management and the secretariats, the case managers as well as the social counseling and discharge management. The clinic management and the director’s secretariat support the clinic director in administrative and organizational matters. A dedicated team of medical secretaries ensures that consultation hours run smoothly.
Research staff
Study nurses and research assistants help conduct clinical trials and research projects.
Staff in the operating rooms
Our surgical team includes surgical nurses and specialists in surgical technology. In addition, there are the anesthesiologists and the medical-technical staff of the intraoperative neuromonitoring.
