Prof. Dr. Werner Z’Graggen, MD is a specialist in neurology and has been Head of Neurological Intensive Care at the Neurosurgery and Neurology Clinics of the Inselspital in Bern since 2009.
He is also a member of 5 national and international professional societies and a reviewer of for 15 internationally renowned journals in the field of neurology, neurosurgery, neurophysiology and intensive care. Additionally, he is a regular reviewer for research projects and promotions.

His professional training and specialization was supplemented and deepened by several stays at foreign university hospitals and research institutes. He is a frequent invited speaker at national and international congresses of various medical societies.

  • Neurological Intensive Care of patients in the intensive care unit and intermediate care unit.
  • Diagnostics and therapy of diseases of the autonomic nervous system.
  • Cerebrovascular diseases; particularly, treatment of patients with intracerebral hemorrhages and ischemic strokes.
  • Treatment of patients with neuromuscular diseases in the intensive care unit.
  • Electroneuromyography including specialized methods for measuring the excitability of nerve and muscle fiber membranes.
  • Doppler and duplex sonographic examination of the vessels supplying the brain.
