Every year, around 620 people in Switzerland are diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Successful medical treatment requires a large team of highly specialized staff who provide comprehensive treatment, advice, and support to patients and their families throughout the course of the disease.
Our team
A large team of employees from a wide range of specialist areas work closely together at the Neuro-Oncology Center at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital. Their common goal is to provide optimal medical treatment for brain tumors without losing sight of the individual.
We made a film for World Brain Tumor Day 2022, in which we introduced a few people who represent the entire team. This gives you an informative insight into the many different activities and specialized steps involved in providing high-quality, patient-centered brain tumor therapy.
Brain Tumor Center
The Brain Tumor Center at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, one of four neuro-oncology centers in Switzerland, treats patients with brain tumors. The center's mission is to coordinate collaboration between experts from various fields, such as neurosurgery, neurology, neuroradiology, oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, etc., across disciplinary boundaries and tailor their efforts to the needs of patients and their families.
In addition to highly specialized medical therapy, our Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs), who specialize in tumor patients, play a key role in ensuring that those affected and their families feel well cared for throughout the course of the disease. Our two APNs have extensive experience with tumor patients and fully understand their fears and concerns.
