We warmly congratulate Prof. David Bervini on his appointment as Associate Professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Bern, effective February 1, 2024.
Prof. David Bervini, MD, is a specialist in neurosurgery and has been working as an attending physician at the Department of Neurosurgery at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, since 2015.
He specializes in microsurgical vascular surgery and in consultation and treatment for aneurysms, vascular diseases, stenoses, and vascular malformations.
After completing his medical studies at the University of Lausanne, he spent two years as a surgical fellow in Sydney, Australia, where he specialized in vascular neurosurgery. He further expanded his expertise in this field through additional training in China and the US.
In addition to clinical research, David Bervini is interested in new technologies and leads several translational research projects in collaboration with multiple national and international centers.
Since 2023, David Bervini has been hosting an annual simulation workshop for intracranial aneurysm microsurgery, where neurosurgeons can practice challenging aneurysm surgery using a 4D aneurysm simulator. The aneurysm simulator was developed by Bervini himself in collaboration with the University of Bern and brought to market, representing a quantum leap in aneurysm surgery in terms of risk minimization and patient safety. The project was supported by several research and development funds and has won a number of awards.
