Prof. Dr. med. Ralph Schär will be promoted to Deputy Chief of the Department of Neurosurgery at Inselspital Bern effective September 1, 2026. He is currently a Senior Consultant and Head of Spinal Surgery.
Ralph Schär specializes in the surgical treatment of complex spinal conditions.
His clinical areas of focus include complex spinal surgery for degenerative, tumor-related, and infectious spinal conditions, as well as spinal microsurgery for intradural pathologies.
His research focuses in particular on patient safety in spinal surgery. He collaborates with national and international hospitals as part of several multicenter studies.
With his many years of clinical expertise and international research experience, Ralph Schär will play a key role in shaping the clinic’s future development in his new position.
