The Brain Tumor Center at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital is one of five neuro-oncology centers in Switzerland certified by the German Cancer Society (DKG), alongside hospitals in Zurich, Aarau, and Basel. This certification has been in place since 2016. In order to retain it, proof must be provided annually that the high professional requirements for the treatment of tumor diseases continue to be met and that the center has an established quality management system in place. In November 2022, the necessary audits took place at Inselspital, which have now led to successful recertification.

Why the German Cancer Society?

The German Cancer Society (DKG) is the largest oncology association in the German-speaking world. Its certification system provides proof that the quality of a center is regularly measured and checked. Certification as a neuro-oncology center according to the criteria of the DKG and the independent certification body ClarCert GmbH (ISO 9001:2015) guarantees a high standard of quality in the treatment of oncology patients. The entire certification system, including the performance of audits, is overseen by the independent institute OnkoZert.
