Since February 2026, Dr. Sabry Barlatey has been an attending neurosurgeon at the Department of Neurosurgery at Inselspital Bern. His clinical focus includes epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation, and tumor neurosurgery.

Dr. Barlatey completed his medical studies at the University of Lausanne. From 2015 to 2019, he was a fellow of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) in the MD-PhD Program at the Brain Mind Institute of EPFL. During his doctoral research, he explored innovative biological strategies aimed at promoting the regeneration of injured spinal cord fibers.

In 2020, he began his residency training at the Department of Neurosurgery, Inselspital Bern, under the direction of Prof. Andreas Raabe. In 2024, he completed a one-year rotation in neurosurgery at the Cantonal Hospital of Sion before returning to Inselspital in 2025. In May 2025, alongside his clinical activities, he started a postdoctoral fellowship in epilepsy research, where he actively investigates the mechanisms of brain plasticity and the organization of epileptic networks.
