Dr. med. Sabry Barlatey completed his medical studies at the University of Lausanne. From 2015 to 2019, he was a fellow of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) in the MD-PhD program at the Brain-Mind Institute of ETH Lausanne. His doctoral research focused on innovative biological strategies for regenerating injured spinal cord fibers and neuroprostheses to restore impaired proprioception after complete spinal cord injury.

After a semester as a resident physician in the emergency department of Sion Cantonal Hospital, he began his specialized training in 2019 at the University Clinic for Neurosurgery at Inselspital Bern under the supervision of Prof. Andreas Raabe. In 2024, he completed a rotation year in neurosurgery at Sion Cantonal Hospital before returning to Inselspital in 2025. His current areas of interest include epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation, and tumor neurosurgery.

Starting in May 2025, Dr. Barlatey will begin a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in epilepsy research, alongside his clinical duties.
