Prof. Kathleen Seidel, MD, and Prof. David Bervini, MD, will be appointed to the senior medical staff on September 1, 2025. Prof. Kathleen Seidel, MD

Senior Consultant, Intraoperative Neurophysiology

Prof. Kathleen Seidel, MD, is an internationally recognized specialist in tumor surgery and intraoperative neurophysiology. Since 2009, she has headed the Department of Intraoperative Neurophysiology at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, which she established and where physicians from around the world regularly train.

Prof. Seidel is President of the International Society for Intraoperative Neurophysiology (ISIN) and is involved in international projects aimed at improving patient safety in high-risk surgery. In 2018, she received the Theodor Kocher Prize  in recognition of her outstanding scientific achievements.

In 2019, she was appointed Privatdozentin (private lecturer) at the University of Bern and Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern Denmark, and in 2022 she became a Professor at the University of Bern.

Prof. David Bervini, MD, is a leading expert in cerebrovascular neurosurgery, specializing in brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, and cerebral revascularization, such as bypass surgery of the brain.
